New MHS Facility
We have some very exciting news!
The Missoula Humane Society has purchased a building
and land located on Highway 93 South toward Lolo. We will use this new property to move our operations
from our sad, dilapidated 40 year old building to one
that is bright, efficient, clean, and most of all..healthy
for the animals. The new building will have
many wonderful features including:
- Several small group cat housing areas where cats
- "Get acquainted" rooms for families that
are interesting in meeting new pets
- A meeting room to be used for educational programs,
meetings, seminars, and dog training classes.
- Advanced ventilation systems to cut down on disease
- A separate room for small animals like ferrets,
rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc..
- Kennel pods where groups of only eight dogs will
be housed together, thus decreasing their exposure
to one another and alleviating undo stress and barking
- An open and comfortable lobby area
The floor plans are finished and we are now evaluating
building materials and equipment. We hope to get the
project ready to be bid in the spring, with our eye
on December 2004 for the move to our new building.
